Myanmar property awards to be held in late June


Myanmar real estate news Preparing for a revitalised Myanmar property market, the Myanmar Property Awards 2016 ceremony will take place in June at Yangon’s Sul Shangri-la hotel.

Property Report, published by the Thai-based company Ensign Media Group, organises the ceremony in Asian countries. Myanmar made its debut in the event last year.

More than 20 prizes will be awarded, including best developer, best commercial development, best serviced office development, best renovated property, best residential architectural design and also real estate personality of the year.

“With the election over, we look forward to a boost in Myanmar’s real estate market,” said Terry Blackburn, who founded the awards.

Richard Emerson, country manager of Savills and a judge in the awards, said, “Although the Myanmar property sector is static now, we hope to develop the real estate sector beyond 2016. We hope for changes in the market and better prices under the incoming government.”

At last year’s ceremony, Yoma Strategic Holdings picked up the best developer award, and Myint and Associates won best office development award for their office tower in Yangon, Vantage Tower. Stephen Suen, founder and chair of the Marga Group of companies, won the real estate personality of the year award at last year’s ceremony.
