YCDC approves five companies for soil testing

Myanmar real estate news Five more companies have been authorised to carry out soil testing in advance of construction projects in Yangon.

Geotechnic Myanmar, JGS, Fukken (Yangon) Engineering Group, Suntac Technologies and ESifh Future Force Engineering have all been given approval, Yangon City Development Committee has announced.

They join six other companies that were licensed to conduct soil tests last month: Mya Yar Pin Engineering and Consulting Group, Civil Engineer Construction Cooperative (CECC), UNO Consultant Geotechnical Engineering Group, Tek Bumi, GEO Friends and AMT Geotechnical Engineering Group.

“As of October 1, only these companies will be permitted to provide soil testing results. The companies were selected on the basis of the accuracy of their work, and their responsibility and accountability,” YCDC Engineering Department (Building) staff officer U Than Htay told The Myanmar Times.

U Khin Maung Maung, of the Committee for Quality Control of High-Rise Building Construction Projects, said on October 2, “These companies received licences based on analysis by YCDC of their background, experience, equipment, investment capital and engineering competence.”

According to state-owned media, the issue of licences to the companies has already been endorsed by the high rise committee.
